About me
Welcome to Sonja J Clark Holistic Massage Therapy
I’m Sonja J Clark, a qualified Remedial and Sports Massage Therapist and Clinical Reflexologist, with additional training in Acupuncture and Dry Needling. Before establishing my complementary health practice, I spent many years working in nursing, health visiting and health education.
Although I no longer practise as a registered nurse, this background continues to shape the way I work — with compassion, curiosity and an understanding that our physical, psychological and emotional wellbeing are often closely interconnected.
My approach is holistic, person-centred and individualised.
Whether you come to me for help with pain, tension or movement, or simply for relaxation, rest and general wellbeing, I aim to provide a calm and supportive space in which you feel listened to and involved in your care.
My practice continues to evolve, with a growing professional interest in persistent pain, the mind-body connection, stress and nervous-system regulation, while remaining firmly grounded in appropriate professional boundaries and evidence-informed practice.
Qualifications & Professional Background
BA (Hons) Specialist Community Practitioner (Health Visiting), TQFE, Diploma in Remedial & Sports Massage, Diploma in Swedish Massage, Diploma in Reflexology, Certificate in Foundation Acupuncture & Dry Needling.
Services
Initial consultation
I offer a 20-40 minute initial consultation for every new client to ensure we develop the most appropriate holistic treatment plan for your individual needs.
This consultation will include a patient questionnaire, inclusive of your medical, family and social history, a general physical assessment and may also include a more specific joint and range of motion assessment, specific to your symptomology and presentation*
1
Swedish Massage Therapy
Discover the calming benefits of Swedish massage therapy, a method for relaxation and rejuvenation. With flowing strokes and expert kneading, Swedish massage enhances circulation and eases muscle tension
2
Remedial & Sports Massage
Remedial massage uses techniques like trigger point therapy and myofascial release to treat conditions effectively. For athletes, our sports massage enhances performance and aids recovery. Both approaches relieve pain, improve muscle tone, enhance circulation, and reduce stress.
3
Reflexology
Reflexology is a deeply relaxing therapy that uses gentle pressure on specific points of the feet, which correspond to different areas of the body. This calming treatment encourages relaxation, helps ease tension and supports your overall sense of wellbeing, leaving you feeling restored and rebalanced.
*Please be aware, that in rare circumstances, it may not be appropriate for you to receive Massage Therapy. This may be because you have a condition that is contraindicated to treatment. I will always discuss and explore this with you during the assessment process. It may be that further medical assessment, by a GP, Allied Health Professional or Specialist is indicated, or medical authorisation is sought, prior to treatment, or referral on to another professional would be more appropriate for your individual needs or requirements.
